Our Work

Launched in 2025, the Healthy Textile Coalition is committed to developing and engaging with current and future textile legislation that supports our core work and values. Through collaborative policy and advocacy, we work to prioritize climate-friendly and non-toxic natural fiber production, strengthen equitable and transparent regional supply networks, protect human health and dignified labor, and support traditional textile practices alongside modern innovations.

  • The Responsible Textile Recovery Act of 2024 (CA)

California’s fledgling Responsible Textile Recovery Act (SB 707) puts producers on the hook for the state’s mounting clothing waste, but the Healthy Textiles Coalition (HTC) argues the current law still leaves critical gaps.

  • Comment letter to the Department of Toxic Substances Control (CA 2025)

Petroleum-based plastic is dirty and extractive from start to finish. We submit comments for the DTSC’s consideration in the proposal to add microplastics to the Candidate Chemicals List.

  • Research-backed advocacy around healthy textile systems

Our work is grounded and informed by peer-reviewed research. We are carrying out a literary review and will share publicly available articles as they are gathered. HTC’s advocacy work remains evidence-based, localized, inclusive, and aligned with current environmental and public health data.
